Granite stone carvings dating back to the Pallava Kings in the 7th century. This magnificent work took many years of chipping away at a very hard granite rockface in the coastal city of Mahabalipuram (now Mamallapuram) in South India.
For centuries the town has been a centre for stone carving and many streets are lined with the the handiwork of these skilled craftspeople. There is also an extraordinary temple complex from the same era near the seafront making the place a must visit for anyone interested in the wonderful early history of India.
A large print of this photograph makes a great centrepiece for anyone who loves elephants.
We print on heavy grade archival 100% cotton rag fine art paper and prints are sent unframed in a cardboard tube.
